Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of John Huey.
The search for the perfect Railroad image takes many of us to many varied locations. Unfortunately many wonderful memories do not even have an image recorded to accompany them. Memories of friends and acquaintances met along the road, or on the train itself. This small contribution seeks to add to the legacy of our collective railroad experience; not only to focus on the "here and now", but also the "way back when". If you have not had the chance to see the remaining Colorado Narrow Gauge, you are missing out on a giant portion of our railroad legacy.
Preserving the history of my favorite fallen flag, the Southern Pacific and its subsidiaries, has become a growing passion as of late; the SPH&TS also grew out of this passion. I am being bombarded by wonderful old memories of the people I knew 40 some years ago, when still a very new railfan. As I scan each rediscovered image, the past comes alive, and the forgotten details begin to reappear. I started out having no clue where to go, other than the tracks around my neighborhood. A trip to discover a new hobby shop, one up in La Puente CA, introduced me to the yard in Industry; and I have never looked back.
I have these few albums thus far, with plans to expand as needed; please enjoy your visit here. I have recently been entrusted with the photo's of one of my mentors in the hobby (SP LA13½), also those of my oldest friend M.J. Ala, and have been asked to share them as I am able, so other names are credited as is appropriate to its image. I hope all these photographs will be as nostalgic and informative for you, as they have been for me.
I will be adding more images when the mood and ability strikes so check back; may God bless you all.
You may browse my collection of pictures via the menu located on the left hand side of the page. I hope you enjoy the collection and thanks for stopping by!
